Hello Blogger world!
This is my second attempt at a blog site (my other can be found on here), except this one will have a direction and hopefully a divine purpose. The title of my blog refers to a bible verse found in Matthew 5:13-16 which reads
"You are the salt of the earth. But if salt loses it's saltiness, how can it be made salty again? It is no longer good for anything than to be thrown out and trampled underfoot.
You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead, they put it on it's stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven."
Why does this speak volumes? As a Christian, I feel that this sums up the everyday life of what God has called us to do, to be. EVeryday we are blessed to have another day, many of us head to work, school, meetings, or other engagements. What would the world be like if we acted like the "salt" and the "light"?
Now many might say ok, so whats the real message because i kNOw this text shouldn't be taken literally, but suprsingly, this is exactly how i feel it was intended to be.Definitions according to WEbster's dictionary SALT=an ingredient that gives savor, zest. Light=Something that makes vision possible. Now if these two definitions don't say it all, let me break it down.
WE are called to add savor and zest to the world and lives of others. In this sense I feel like he has called us to "Season" the earth with His Word." Meaning to not so much go into your office catching the holy ghost, but yet in appropriate situations, sharing your testimonies of what God has done for you with the co-worker whos down on his luck, your girlfriend who feels like nobody loves her and is alone from a bad break up, or the friend who has everything she thought she ever wanted, but yet still feels like somethings missing. Everyday if we listen close enough to casual conversation, somebody is crying out "God where are/were u?" If we open our ears and let our heart speak instead of our logical minds, Gods love could be spread to one person a day. Not saying everyone will be receptive, but it will be on their heart to have the free will to choose to believe or toss out everything you've said. The goal is to save souls and win souls for the kingdom and as crazy as it sounds, each one of us are given the chance to do this everyday....LISTEN and then let him speak into you so that you might become a vessel.
I LOVE the definition of light!!
